Sorry for the bait like title, but I’ve been looking forward to a trip to Hokkaido for the entirety of 2023. I had just gotten the opportunity starting from the 8th of February till the 14th. I spent a night in Hakodate and went to Goryokaku and Mt. Hakodate along with its morning market. I was really disappointed with Goryokaku, the walls were basically mud and Mt Hakodate was really crowded with tourists. It was nothing like the Chris Broad video of Hakodate many years ago. I also went through the Sapporo Snow Festival and the Otaru Snow Light Path and while Sapporo’s one was alright, Otaru’s one was awfully disappointing as well. The only really bright spot was a night at Lake Toya and Susukino in Sapporo was also really nice. I don’t mean to offend any Hokkaido stans but I traded my Chinese New Year holiday with my family back home to see these two festivals, so I hope you understand my disappointment. I have 2 more days in Hokkaido and I do hope anyone can give me recommendations on what to do and hope they can help me change my mind. Thanks.
