How do I know which trains I can get with a IC Card?

Hi, in 2 weeks I will go to japan for 16 days and I will be moving between cities and I would like advice about which is the best way to buy tickets for long term distances and best option to commute inside a city.

Long travels i’m going to do:

\- Osaka to Kyoto

\- Kyoto to Kinosaki

\- Kinosaki to Tokyo

\- Tokyo to Osaka

For these, I imagine that what google maps tells me are the best option but, as I’m not going to purchase the JR Pass as it’s not worth it, which is the best option to buy these tickets? Can I use the IC Card? If not, do I need to purchase them in advance? if so where?

Then, I would like to know which is the best option to commute in:

\- Kyoyo

\- Tokyo

I understand that with an IC Card (most probaably ICCOCA) I can use it for all the trains/subways that I need right?

Thanks
