Hey all, current language student here. I am around N4-N3 in Japanese (I know, it’s basically nothing work-wise), and I am trying to come to a decision.
I am currently running low on funds and need to make a step towards a working visa. I would like to work here full time, and I have the chance of getting a work visa through an English teaching job in a couple of months. However I would prefer to not teach English if I don’t have to.
I have a degree in communications, and I worked for 3 years as a marketer/social media manager/graphic designer before back in the states. I know how to code, but only the basics. HTML, CSS, JavaScript – basic front end website stuff.
I know most people’s recommendation is to learn to code and do IT for a job with minimal Japanese. But with my small amount of knowledge I am not sure I could swing a job like that,
All that said, is my only option to get better at Japanese or suck it up and teach English? If so I can accept that, I just want to know if there are any avenues I am missing. I truly do wish to learn the language, if I could get paid to just study Japanese I would stay in language school forever, but….. I gotta pay rent so….
Any advice? Thanks o/
