Hello, I’m torn about my upcoming leg of travel through Northern Japan. For context, I’ll have spent 2 weeks in Tokyo/Kyoto/Hakone/Hiroshima at this point and want something that’s not quite as well-travelled. I’ll be in Northern Japan in late March and would preferably like to do things focusing around culture/nature, although I do like nightlife as well. I will probably do a night in Sendai on the way up from Tokyo and, beyond that, was considering setting up home base in Aomori, with a possible day trip to Hakodate and another to Hachinohe. I won’t have a car but will have a JR Pass. Are there any cities that best offer a mix of nature, cultural draws as well as nightlife? Thank you in advance for any advice.
