Leaving JET mid-contract

As the title states, I will be leaving JET to start a new job in Japan in April. I already had a meeting with my BoE and they were very understanding, seeing how my contract is July-July but the new job season around March/April.

But after, they asked me to provide all of my new company information (including name, address, fax number, etc). I just wanted to know if people who also quit JET had to go through this similar process? I have never heard of an old job asking for the new job’s information. And it’s not like it’s for a reference call because I already have the job. I have also heard from other JETS who broke contract that their BoE just asked for their new address so they could forward the mail.

Just wanted to know if this is standard procedure in Japan.
