My partner and I are aiming to move to Japan in the next few years. He will work remotely and I’ll most likely try and find a job in Tokyo.
We contemplated renting but decided buying is the better option, given that we are 1. Foreigners, 2. Have a 20kg dog and a cat, 3. Unsure of the duration of stay (most rental places seems to be average 3 year rental contract, and expensive gift money/key money etc).
Looking at Hachioji and Yokohama at the moment, but does anyone know if there is an area that is quiet and dog friendly (lots of space/parks)? Ideally an hour from Tokyo, and living 20mins walk from train station with 2 parking spots for our house (budget is currently 2000-2500万円).
