I’m currently looking into pursuing a work visa in Japan as an English teacher. I’m aiming to start teaching there within the next couple of years as I’m just finishing up my student teaching this May.
My fiance (getting married this year) has heavily encouraged me to go down this path, but I’m concerned about the dependent visa and how it works. To my understanding, if I get a work visa, my
then-husband will be able to apply for a dependent visa. Would this mean he’s unable to get a job in Japan while we’re there? I’m concerned that the salary of a teacher would not be enough to support two people.
Would it be possible for him to try to get a job in Japan and apply for the work visa while living on the dependent visa? Additionally, would it even be advisable to do so?
