I’ve got a hotel booked for Shinjuku late Oct and will have 6 more nights. I was thinking doing 6 nights in Osaka and commuting to Kyoto a couple times. Probably another day trip mixed in as well once I decide where.
Ive seen mixed feelings on how much time to dedicate to Kyoto / Osaka and if you should stay in both or use one city as a base and travel to the other.
While I am interested in the cultural sites like castles, shrines, museums, etc. I am mostly into some of the nerdier aspects of Japanese culture (anime, manga, JRPGs) as well as food and drink.
I think Osaka caters to that but I dont want to miss out on staying in Kyoto 2-3 nights if the benefits outweigh the multiple hotel aspect.
