What is the best course of action I can take?

To make a long story short, my girlfriend is Japanese and we have made the decision for me to move there from Canada. She is not ready to get married just yet (which is very understandable) and I am not in the business of pushing her into it, so I need to find a way for me to move there with the limited options I have.

I am 29, I have no degree or enough years of experience in one specific field. I do have much restaurant experience, but not enough to qualify for a visa on its own. I am currently working towards my TEFL, however I need a degree to use it in Japan.

If I go on a travel visa, I cannot work and will be limited to 6 months.

I could go on a working holiday visa, but will be given 1 year (note, they only accept Canadians up to the age of 25, but can extend it to 30 with “special exception”, what ever that is)

Are there any Japanese language schools which grant visas? This would kill 2 birds with one stone.

My goal is to be there mid October, I’m just wondering what options there are available to me.
