Hi all, I appreciate this question has probably been asked before but I couldn’t find any clarity on it so would just like to clear up here. I’m April, I will be visiting Japan for just under 2 weeks and I am looking forward to doing some shopping! I wouldn’t be surprised if I spend upwards of £300 on souvenirs as friends want things as well. My question is, if I am to purchase souvenirs, goods whatever from Japan will I-
1) Pay normal VAT / TAX on them or are they all tax free
2) If I don’t do I have to take them in my carry on rather than checked bags
3) If I do, can I get this refunded at the airport on my departure from HND?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I don’t want to be caught up in customs in Japan with doing all the wrong things! Much appreciate you reading & responding!
