Context: I’m an American attending a language school
So I had a lapse of judgment and rode my bike slowly through Teramachi, one of the shopping arcades.
I got stopped by a cop, asked for zaiyu card, check bicycle registration and insurance and got my address and the schools address too. He then asked me to walk my bicycle through Teramachi, which I should have done. He was nice about it.
He filled out selection #2 on the white paper slip, which I understand to be:
Prohibited Traffic, imprisonment up to 3 months or a fine up to 50,000 yen.
I’m feeling extremely anxious right now.
I’m not sure what to do.
Can someone help.
ANSWERED: its just a warning, nothing to worry about, wont do it again

It’s a warning, the part he filled out indicated the possible punishment for the traffic violation you were committing to let you know how bad it can get. Nothing else will come of it and it’s not on record, just don’t do something similar again and you’ll be fine.
Ouch, better be on your best behavior. I got stopped in the same way playing pokemon go while riding my bike.
A few days ago the cops were plastered all over the area hassling cyclists. Be observant and don’t ride thru the shotengai and that’ll be the extent of it, I’d imagine
They used to have a koban at sanjo so people knew they couldn’t wantonly ride down Teramachi. People figured out they’re gone and have started riding there a lot lol.
Imagine going to prison for 3 months just for riding your bike in the wrong place!
Next time get off the bike when you see arcade/roof. Simple.
