My wife and I are planning our first trip to Japan around October 11-25th give or take some days. One thing I really want to try and experience is the fall foliage. From what I’ve been reading this time frame seems to be way too early for Tokyo/Kyoto, so to get some great foliage is the best bet going to be going all the way up to Hokkaido? If would it make most sense to just fly into Tokyo and then fly directly to Hakodate rather than taking the train up since we’d already be at the airport? Looking at early prices it’s seems like flying is $200 vs $160ish for train
Thanks for any help or advice!
