I like this subreddit a lot, and I was thinking about how it could be a little more useful for residents. While the occasional “help me!” post from tourists or short-term visitors is not the worst thing, I do feel like it’s a little demotivating for me as a resident because it makes the sub feel like a stopping point for travellers. On the other hand, by way of example I love KyotoGaijin’s random photo updates, or posts sharing new spaces, or asking about ways to connect.
So maybe we could have resident flairs? maybe Kyoto city and Kyoto prefecture? (Idk if like, Takatsuki or Shiga people could use one?) It would make it easier for residents to connect and also give a little more weight to their comments as well, which benefits everyone.
Or does this already exist and I just haven’t been able to find it… lol

Good news, there is resident flair already! For example, I should have flair for Fushimi-ku by my name.
There is spot on the sidebar to set your flair.
If you’re not seeing any of it, perhaps you are running some custom css or reddit mods or whatever is out there nowadays.
