Hi ya’ll, Im trying to come up with a day of activities while based in Kyoto, and was wondering if I could get some tips/warning/advice on a day trip to Nara. Maybe good starting times or rearranging order of destinations? Maybe splitting it up into two different days? (although I prefer this last option the least).
Early am – Head over to Nara, see/feed the deer and check out surrounding areas (Todai-Ji, Kintetsu-Nara Station area).
Midday – Head over to and check out Byodo-in Temple, explore surrounding areas.
Afternoon/evening – check out Fushimi Inari right before heading back to our lodging in Kyoto.
I’ve seen various suggestions to hit up Fushimi on the way back to Kyoto from Nara, but have not heard of squeezing Byodo-in…in. Is this one-day itinerary feasible/recommended?
Also, seen a lot of posts saying public transportation is not as reliable as Tokyo. Is this in regards to the timeliness of the transportation system, or in terms of how many vehicles are out on a route at any given time time?
Many thanks in advance.
edit: red-eyeing it so I will respond asap. Thank you
