The eternal dilemma: Nikko or Kamakura?

Hello! At the beginning of April, I will be in Japan for a 10 days trip 🥰
We will do Osaka–>Nara–>Kyoto–>Tokyo and we would like to include a day-trip from Tokyo too.
My first idea was to do Nikko, but a friend told me that it is a long way rom Tokyo and we will rush a lot to see all the things. He said we better do Kamakura (+Enoshima): nearer and more interesting in his opinion.
But then, I read on various websites that, actually, Nikko is better recommended if you would like to see something ‘different’ as it has a different style from the remaining places in Japan.
Considered that we will see both Kyoto and Nara at the beginning of our vacation, do you have any suggestions?

(If Nikko is UNESCO heritage that means something, or what?)
