Finding Work

Hey everyone, I’d love some suggestions for places to find work here in Kyoto for a native English speaker. I’ve been here for a few months with my wife, and I’ve been struggling to find any good leads. My japanese is very basic. Although I’m actively learning, it’s been hard starting from scratch. I’m on a dependent visa, but that allows me to work up to 28 hours a week with a work permit (unless I can get a visa sponsorship).

For context, I tried several English teaching dispatch companies like Interac and they said they’re not currently looking for any teachers in Kyoto.
I tried a couple rock climbing places (just because that’s something I enjoy) hoping they might want an English Speaker for tourists, but that didn’t quite take.
I looked into being a tour guide because I’ve enjoyed exploring the city and trying a bunch of restaurants, but it’s actually much harder to become a guide than where I’m from back in the States. Many places want you to have a license, speak fluent japanese, or have lived here a long time.
I really don’t want to do after school english programs because that’s the only time I get to see my wife.
I’ve applied to stuff on Gaijinpot and the like, and haven’t gotten replies yet.

Any advice? Are there any places downtown who would want to hire a foreigner for tourists? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
