The award is supposed to be for someone who was undeserving of the push he received and/or pushed beyond his abilities. This is further evidence of most WON subscribers not knowing ball and generally being ignorant of wrestling outside of WWE/AEW (also exemplified by Giulia placing far higher than Tam in the women’s MVP despite not doing anything for most of the year).
I thought Sanada had a really great 2023, even if the booking didn’t do him any favors (month long HoT feud for instance).
