Hi Everyone,
I have started the process of finally getting settled after renting for a while in Okinawa (PR holder). This forum has been of great help for a noob like me and helped to understand better the whole process. One thing I don’t get is that I read interest rates have kept increasing recently but I also see numbers in the 1\~2% range for a fixed-rate (or initial 10-years fixed at least) at megabanks or even reading recent experiences here. Though, if I look at local banks in Okinawa (Okinawa Ginko or Ryukyu Ginko), a 10-years fixed rate is at 2.9% and 3.9% respectively(without any additional option). For those with more knowledge about the area, is it specific to Okinawa region ? I would naturally prefer to go with a local bank but I am obviously going to run several jizenshinsa, including at online banks to see how it goes. I was wondering if I missed something about this higher rate. Other initial costs, bank fees.. are in a same-ish range.
Thank you for any feedbacks !
