I am visiting Japan with a friend both ~30M . we have 11 full days and we are planning to splith them between Tokyo and Kyoto.
We will use the above as bases and do day trips (Nara, Hiroshima, etc from Kyoto/Tokyo)
This is our first time in Japan and my friend’s first time outside Europe.
A couple of questions
1.I’ve noticed that Cherry blossom forecast peaks late april/early may in North areas. Is there a chance to see anything in our first week around Tokyo ? should we attemp to fly to Saporo for a day ?
2. How should we utilise our bullet train ticket ? First days will be in Tokyo then Kyoto and then last day back to Tokyo to take our flight from here. Shall i activate it on our way from Tokyo to Kyoto? What transporation shall i use around tokyo?
3. Mt Fuji trip. Ive seen multiple options for Mt Fuji trips and the lakes in GetYourGuide website from 70-200 eur pp. Is it worth it or shall we take public transportation and visit on our own ?
4. Any recommendations for Accommodation in Tokyo and Kyoto? i.e. specific areas ?
5. I’ve heard mixed stuff about cash and cards. shall i carry cash with me?
