So I ordered something from the US, fairly small just a hoodie, and I paid a bit over 4000 yen for the shipping when I purchased the item.
I was not at home when it was delivered today, so I got a redelivery slip on my mail box. To my surprise it says I have a 着払い fee, another 4000 yen.
I never order stuff from abroad so I don’t get why do I have to pay again if I already paid a delivery fee.
Is this maybe the fee the domestic delivery company is charging me?
Sorry if it’s a dumb question
Edit: I was doing some more research and I found this.
1. International Courier Service
Generally, if a package is handled by an international courier service, the company will make an import declaration and pay import duties and taxes on behalf of the consignee. The courier service will transport the package to the consignee along with the bill.
That’s probably it.
Not sure why I got downvoted but thanks for the responses
