Neighborhood Recommendation

Hi all,

We’re looking to move to Tokyo in a couple of months time. We’re starting to look around at possible neighborhoods, but as you know, being a tourist in Tokyo vs actually living/commuting to work is very different, and we’re kinda lost on where to start, so we’re hoping to hear some recommendations so we can start searching.

What we’re looking for:

* We will have 2 adults, 1 toddler + 2 cats. So, we’re looking for a 3LDK (and if not, a decent sized 2LDK) that is at least 80\~ sqm and above. We are not particular about apartment/mansions/house. Our current budget is 250k, but we can bump this up by quite a bit if needed, although we’re looking to save on rental if possible.
* With the toddler, we would prefer a neighborhood with green spaces. A nice big park within walking distance would be great for outdoor learning and activities, esp if the house is smaller.
* We don’t care for night life. A residential area with inexpensive groceries and food and just being family-friendly works better for us.
* The office will be near Otemachi Station. Door-to-door, we’re comfortable with a 60 mins commute. Of course, if we can afford being closer, it would be nice too.

Some areas I was looking at were Yoyogi (some old posts said it’s affordable, and it does have a big park nearby), Bunkyo (close to Otemachi, lots of family-friendly restaurants, family activities etc), Kochijoji (trendy, but seems far from Otemachi + I read it’s getting expensive?), Nakano (as a tourist, I did like the vibes there, but not sure about living there for a long time). Open to more suggestions because obviously, we’ll not have as many choices with us having a young kid + 2 cats, and we might have to be less selective about the area.

Thanks!
