5 nights in Kyoto – Itinerary check

Hey everyone,

Hoping to get your thoughts and suggestions on our Kyoto itinerary for an upcoming trip to Japan in mid April.

**Day 1** \-

* Arrive Kyoto in the evening – Suiran in Arashiyama

**Day 2**  \- 

* Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (07:00)
* Back to hotel for breakfast
* Tenryu-ji Temple
* Sagano Scenic Railway
* Hozugawa River Cruise
* Late lunch – Yoshimura Soba
* Gioji Temple
* Hiranoya for tea
* Pontocho dinner and drinks (I know its a bit of a hike but we def want to have dinner here one night and all other nights are full)
* Shinbashi after dinner walk

**Day 3 -**

* % Arabica coffee
* Checkout Suiran
* Kinkaku-ji temple
* Lunch – somewhere around Hanamikoji
* Miyako Odori – Geisha Performance (14:30)
* Checkin Park Hyatt Kyoto
* Dinner – Kikunoi Honten (18:00)
* Kodaiji Temple Illumination

**Day 4 -**

* Fushimi Inari shrine (07:00)
* Walk around Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka
* Lunch
* Nara (afternoon)
\* Deer Park
\* Todaiji
* Osaka (late dinner and drinks with a friend)

**Day 5 -**

* Kiyomizu-dera private tour (09:30)
* Kasagiya tea house
* Checkout Park Hyatt
* Lunch
* Nijo Castle
* Checkin Hiiragiya Ryokan – Dinner at Ryokan

**Day 6 -**

* Checkout Hiiragiya
* Nishiki Market
* Lunch
* Walk around + shopping in downtown Kyoto
* Travel to Tokyo late afternoon

Does this look too busy, or about right? We’ll be mostly walking or taking taxis where needed to maximize our time (except for Nara and Osaka, obvs.). I’m also interested if anyone knows if Kinkaku-ji has many late blooming sakura. I know Ninna-ji has a famous Omuro Sakura grove which I’d like to visit, but I think that’ll feel rushed on that particular day.
