Hi Everyone! My husband and I are doing a packaged tour for the first part of our Japan trip and then exploring Tokyo on our own at the end of the tour. We will be going late August through early September.
This will be our first Trip to Japan and we are very excited! I’d love some input on our tentative itinerary for our days in Tokyo after our packaged tour ends. I tend to over-plan everything, so open to feedback on if we have too much planned each day. I tried to focus on covering as much as we could in a specific areas each day to avoid a lot of un-needed travel back and forth.
Additional notes: We are foodies, gamers, anime fans, and love history/architecture. I also love crafting and sewing and make my own cosplays. We are both very active so we expect to not need a lot of rest after our Fuji climb, and are ready for a lot of walking!
Day 1
• First day post tour. Will be in a hotel in Shinjuku
• Explore around hotel
• Hanazono Jinja Shrine
• Shinjuku Gyoen Gardens
• Lush Shinjuku shopping
• Travel to Nakano City
• Afternoon: Nakano Broadway and explore area
• Return to Shinjuku and explore
• Dinner/drinks in Omoide Yokocho
Day 2
• Travel and Fuji Climb, overnight in hut for sunrise at top of Fuji
Day 3
• Fuji sunrise and descend.
• Travel back to Shibuya, and check into hotel/retrieve luggage
• Late lunch at Happy Pancake (can reserve online ahead of time)
• Explore around hotel/Shibuya area.
• Sailor Moon Store shopping
• Street Go GoKart Experience
• Find Conveyor Belt Sushi near hotel for dinner
Day 4
• Find breakfast near hotel
• Teamlabs (as soon as open)
• Check out Azabudai Hills: Nintendo Store/Pokémon Store and other shops
• Explore Minato City
• Photo shoot: Studio Esperanto
• Azabu-Hikawa Shrine
• Tokyo Tower
• Dinner: Han-no-daidokoro bettei (reservation required)
• Karaoke Bar in evening
Day 5
• Yukata Purchase: Shibuya
• Kimono photo shoot and walking tour in Taito City
• Asakusa Shrine and explore around area.
• Tea Ceremony (Maikoya)
• PM Tokyo Skytree and explore around area.
• Dinner at 634 (reservation required)
Day 6
• Tokyo Disney Sea
Day 7
• Gotokuji Cat Temple
• Travel to Ginza and explore area
• Find lunch in Ginza
• Ginza Art Aquarium
• Hamarikyu Garden
• Shiba Daijingu Shrine
• Karasumori Shrine
• Dinner at Sushiya Ichiyangai (reservation required)
• After dinner, return to Shibuya and visit High Tech Land Sega Shibuya
• Late PM: Explore bars/nightlife near hotel.
Day 8
• Flight back home
