Quick question, I’ve applied for PR and am awaiting their decision. My passport is also up for renewal later this year, but I want to get it done asap. I noticed Immigration stick a note in the passport, is it ok to get my passport renewed before getting the PR decision? Even if it means I may not have it in my possession when Immigration want me to go and get the PR?

Can’t guarantee a 100% but usually you will get your old, invalid, passport back. The paper from immigration will still be in that old passport and you just bring it together with the new passport.
I did this last year.
When I filled out the form for the new passport there was an option to keep the old passport as well.
I brought both to immigration when my PR card came in. They didn’t even look for the paper, I asked them and the guy was like, “oh yeah, I’ll take that out for you”.
I remember being in the sae spot.
Get a new passport. Keep your old if possible. No problems.
