3rd time visitor to Japan, first time during cherry blossoms
Info: M (33), live in US. Traveling with wife. Interested in going to tourist spots with sakura.
I am going to Japan for 6 full days in Japan (and 4 in Korea) during early April (2nd-7th). I will split 3 days in Tokyo area, 3 days in Kansai. My aim is to optimize the trip for best cherry blossom experiences.
Here is my (rough) itinerary for Tokyo 3-days:
**Day 1:**
Morning-afternoon:
Chidorigafuchi park, Shinjuku Goyen, koishikawa korakuen (fine to skip either of the latter 2)
Night:
Sakura Festival Nihombashi/ Rikugien Gardens
**Day 2:**
Morning-afternoon:
*Two options:*
– Kamakura in the morning: Kotoku-in and Hachimangu
– Ueno Onshi Park, Sumida Park
Evening:
– New Borderless location in Azubudai Hills
– Nakameguro river park/ sakura festival
**Day 3:**
Mt Fuji area
Morning-afternoon-evening:
Oishi Park/ Arukurayama Sengen Park, Chureito Pagoda/ Lake Kawaguchi
(open to take taxi between places to save time if necessary)
Night:
Head out to Kyoto with *shinkansen*
Of course in all the 3 days above, I will do lunch & dinner in addition to the sites but haven’t figured all the places. Some contenders- Gyukatsu Motomura (love this place!), Ponga Ebisu for dinner, teppinyanki sumifuji for lunch
Given we have been to Tokyo before, we don’t feel the need to visit a lot of the regular landmarks (like Akihabara, Shibuya). We have also been to Shinjuku Goyen, Borderless (old location), Ueno Park & Kamakura in the past (some in momiji season).
Please critique if I should move around, skip a few things. And which things to prioritize, especially given the forecasts of early bloom this year.
