  1. This makes no sense. That isn’t retirement money at 24 years old. He’s making a bad decision so much worse.

  2. What an amazing story.

Setting aside for a moment the unfathomable idea that some banks are still using *floppy disks*, it is still astounding to me that, despite all of the useless security features that Japanese banks impose, they could fuck something up as bad as this. Honestly, I hope the guy gets away with the money.

It’s made even better by the fact that he didn’t even really live there for that long. He bought that house on the cheap through one of those rural house selling programs.

  3. Apparently he used it all on online gambling. If thats true, my gosh he’s terrible at it

  4. Surely he would just leave the country? It’s pretty much impossible to lie low in Japan

  5. Now he’s lawyer said he spent all the money on online casino and it’s impossible to refund.

  6. Man I used to live in that area a decade ago. It is a tiny podunk town with wonderful people. For this asshole to run away with the money that was meant to aid the poor people of that area…he should get his ass kicked.

  7. Brilliant. I wonder how far the police can go in an investigation. He didn’t actually commit a crime. They can’t possibly go through his bank accounts, can they?
