Recommendations For Trip From Fukuoka To Tokyo

Hey everyone,

I am planning a grad trip to Japan with friends for July. We will be there for around 18 days and it’s our first time in Japan. We will land in Fukukoa and make our way to Tokyo. I currently have some activities planned out, but I am having trouble deciding where to go. We do want to visit the big cities (Tokyo, Osaka) but as we also want to explore places that aren’t as tourisy as the big citites. Does anyone have any recommendations for where we should go (Any “Hidden Gems”). I’ll outline all I have planned so far. I would be open to going futher north past Tokyo, but I will eventually have to go back to Tokyo to catch my flight. If anyone has ryokan/hotel recommendations as well, that would be awesome.
