Is Akihabara a good place to stay in Tokyo?

I will be in Japan for the first time 4 days in Kyoto, 3 in Osaka and 7 in Tokyo, the best hotel cost benefit I found was in Akihabara , a hotel near to a subway station. Is it a good place? I think I will be probably going between places by subway anyway, right? So why pay much more in smaller hotels to be in the center?

Edit: “First of all, thank you everyone for the comments! I read them carefully.

I didn’t want to make a long post, but I think adding more details would be helpful.

We will be traveling in 2 weeks so there aren’t that many great hotel options available. Since I will be in Tokyo for a week, I would like it to be larger than 11 to 15 square meters room. So the one we liked is the ‘Hotel MONday Akihabara’ which still has 21 square meter rooms costing around $150-$170 dollars a day.

Something I read a lot about was nightlife, well I’m traveling with my wife and our goal with this trip is to wake up early, go to various tourist spots, take photos, taste the local food and learn a different culture (we’re from Brazil). That’s why we are not worried with nightlife location.

About anime, well, we’re not big fans, but we’ll definitely enjoy being immersed in this world for a day.

Our idea would be to go to a different location in Tokyo each day and spend the day there, so we would like to be in a hotel close to the subway station.”
