I’m gonna put on a tin-foil hat…..

…regarding the booking of New Japan shows (especially NB: Sapporo). It seems to me, that the powers that be in BushiRoad are taking control over GEDO’s booking powers. It’s like the Rossy Ogawa vs. BR all over again.

I don’t know about this.

  1. Why do you think this? Like Gedo has definitely made plenty of pretty average booking decisions in the past on his own

  2. Does it really matter? I really don’t care who the booker is as long as the product is good.
The thing is that they need to make changes either way.

  3. Bushiroad want to book miserable spiteful cards to what make money ? And not the heat addicted booking team that has always loved belting up heels.

How does this make sense. Why would a bean counter at Bushiroad be like you know that really popular wrestler el Desperado who always finishes really high in fan polls and is literally one of the most popular wrestlers in the country…..how about we have him lose on count out to sho.

Based on the seething by rossy loyalists to meltzer the disagreement was over gimmick matches. Ok njpw has had more of them. That could be corporate meddling

And bushiroad wanting rossy to push popular wrestlers like Tam Nakano. None of what happened on night 1 fits these complaints.

    Edit

Actually iwatani v Shirakawa was absolutely from up high. That match wasn’t a problem though.

  4. I’m going to say no chance.

People need to face up to the reality that House of Torture is an over act with the New Japan crowd. HoT recently came in as the no.2 most popular faction in the company. They’re gonna get pushed.

I think the state of New Beginning is more likely a consequence of the entirety of several key talent from UE (TJP, Jeff Cobb, HENARE) and almost all of War Dogs being sidelined recovering from the 10 man tags.

Look over those shows again, sprinkle in a bit of healthy Jeff Cobb, a little HENARE/Gabe Kidd action, maybe some TJP Aswang vs Drilla Maloney singles match, and people wouldn’t be on suicide watch over those shows.

  5. Besides the women’s match there’s nothing on these shows that doesn’t look like the usual Gedo booking, don’t know why people are coping so much and act like these were awful shows that will kill NJPW.

  6. I must be the only one not confused by booking. Feel free to respond for specifics, but the direction is a wave of babyface wins at the more important Ryogoku and Chicago venues.

  7. i think ppl need to realize just cause the west hates HoT, they move a lot of merch in japan

  8. Gedo is just trying to change booking perception. He has made changes to his booking before to set a new tone/ condition fans think they can predict every finish. It’s worked before but, as much as I like the guy, he is hamfisted when he does this

  9. Bushiroad was the same company that strapped the rocket to Okada in 2012, pushed for western expansion, and brought in money to sign talent.

Bushiroad also gave stardom quite a bit money to deepen their roster, and was an integral reason as to why stardom managed to grow in popularity.

Are they perfect? Absolutely not, but damn do people say wild shit when things are not looking good.
