I would like to know if there are any people here who have managed to stay here for a considerable amount of time through ‘creative’ means: not through study abroad, spousal visa, English teaching, or working holiday…etc. I feel like these are widely known ways of establishing roots here. I’m interested in hearing the stories of others who have had completely different experiences (and to also give me alittle hope :’) )
For context, I’m currently an ALT, but my specialty is Apparel Design (been making clothing for 15+ years). My dream would to be able to pursue fashion in Japan and I’m curious if anyone has been successful in fulfilling their career dreams here. What’s your story? What did you do to get to where you are now? Any advice?
