I have a paid internship offer to work in japan. I have not renounced any of my citizenships and I called the consulate to ask about going on a cultural activities visa without sponsorship (the company cannot afford to sponsor me) and they said I should just go on my japanese passport. despite being over 22, she said it’s kind of a grey area, and since i’m young, they won’t do anything. My mom (japanese) says that they might ban me from ever entering the country again if I try. Has anyone heard of this ever happening? I’ve only heard people being required to renounce their citizenship at most. Also I don’t speak japanese very well, so if I’m at passport control for japanese nationals and speaking english, would that hurt me coming in? What do I say at immigration?
