My wife is Japanese and due to family reason, she is considering going back to Japan. I am a Product Owner/Product Manager here in the US with over 5-10 years of experience. I heard there’s a shortage of tech talent in Japan, but not sure if this includes Product as well or specifically only for software engineers? I understand that the salary cut will be quite significant (maybe getting only a quarter of my current salary or half if I’m lucky), but does anyone know if Product role is also in demand there? Would it be hard for me to find a job?
My concerns:
* My Japanese is only around N3-N2
* I am close to 40 years old, any age discrimination?
Things that I have going for me:
* Japanese spouse
* Product and Project management experience in well known companies
* College degrees
Edit: I guess I am also curious to hear from engineers whether the Product Owners they work with are mostly English speakers?
