Hi. So I’m an experienced game designer from my country, and have released some games on steam, which luckily enough made me some money enough to go to Japan, to enter a language school. I’ve been studying Japanese for almost two years now, and I have an N2, and now pursuing N1.
Recently I’ve been applying to companies but I’ve been failing my document screening, and I don’t understand why. I’ve already tried the following:
1) Have a Japanese teacher check my resume, and fix it.
2) Even hired a teacher to help me with my 志望動機が and 自己PR。
3) Tried cutting my salary in half so that it is way lower than my past salaries.
And only one company invited me for an interview. I thought with my resume, which at least ticks all the requirements in the job descriptions, I’d at least get one interview so my Japanese could be tested but no.
So now Im thinking it is my age. I’m currently 38. Is age a factor when trying to get into Japanese companies? Im asking because I’m considering going to go into a game dev school to extend my visa here but it might not be worth it if after graduating I can’t get a job anyway because of my age.
