I work for a US based company/PEO – Can I live in Japan?

I’ve lived in Japan in the past working for a Japanese company. Years later I’m looking to return and wondering if I can keep my current job and work there. I’m in the beginning phases of researching this and know little to nothing about my options- although it’s looking like it may not be possible.

Does the fact that my company is a PEO help me here? We have a presence in India and Poland but nowhere else.
