Navigating career prospects in Japan as a 29-year-old Combini worker

I’m a 27 year-old (typo in the title sorry) currently working at a combini and married to a paralegal wife here in Japan. As I consider my long-term career shift possibly into IT, I’m curious about the prevalence of ageism in the Japanese job market. Specifically, I wonder if being in my late twenties/thirties will affect my ability to secure better-paying positions in the future.

If any fellow members have insights, experiences, or advice regarding age-related challenges in the Japanese workforce, I would greatly appreciate your input. Additionally, if you’ve navigated a similar situation or have tips on career development in Japan, please share your thoughts.
