🌸Spring 2024🌸Kyoto Travel Megathread – Ask Your Tourism-Related Questions HERE

Hello everyone. This is a message from your mod team.

**Rule #1: r/kyoto does not generally allow travel-related topics. This subreddit is for residents to discuss daily life and Kyoto in general.**

Tourism questions are usually removed and the users directed to r/japantravel or r/japantraveltips. We remove these kinds of posts almost daily, and thank you to those who report them to us.

(Note that we sometimes allow specific tourism topics and questions to remain in the subreddit if they are particularly helpful, interesting, or unique. This creates content for people who use the search tool for answers.)

However, like the flow of the Kamogawa, the tourism topics are unending. And like the Kamogawa in days of old, we often get flooded during certain seasons. So, here’s a compromise.

###**This sticiked thread will be the home for ALL tourism-related questions and discussions for Spring 2024 (probably until end of April).**

Based on the results and feedback, we will then consider making ones in the future for other seasons as well.

**You are free to ask any tourism-related questions here** ***and here only***, and locals are free to answer as they like. All travel topics made outside of this sticky will be removed and directed here.

So, please ask away here. *Consider using the search feature first.* It works quite well and you can usually find answers easily.

Happy to hear any feedback or ideas about this experiment. Ookini.

  1. I am curious if anyone knows and can recommend shops selling Shigaraki ware in Kyoto; on an upcoming trip I had hoped to return to Shigaraki itself and the ceramic cultural park there but I do not think it will be possible. I purchased some pieces on my first visit to Japan over twenty years ago that I am very fond of and hope to find some more pieces to add to my collection.

    I appreciate any guidance!
