Highly considering moving to Japan for a couple of year. I’m a Canadian with around 5 YoE in tech as as a SWE with a university degree. I’ve been lurking and blindly applying to jobs on [https://www.tokyodev.com/](https://www.tokyodev.com/) and [https://japan-dev.com/](https://japan-dev.com/).
I was hoping to see if there’s someone here that did something similar. I have a few questions:
1. I was reading that cover letters are really ideal to include to your applications in Japan. Does this really matter?
2. How was the interview process? I’m pretty used to the standard behavioural and technical interview, but I wasn’t sure if it was similar in Japan or not. What should I expect?
3. How’s the work culture in Japan? I hear mixed opinions between Japanese companies and companies that have a international presence.
