Working visa in Japan as an univesity student

Thank you for reading my post!

I’m on my last year of university in Italy, but before graduating I wanted a break from my studies for like 1-2 years going to Japan to work, and then come back to graduate.

So I’m (or i should say I was until 30 min ago) job hunting in Japan using recruiters, I just had my second interview and the guy told me and if I’m still a univesity student I can’t work in Japan, that I should graduate first. I know that there are problems for students like having a limit on how many hours you can work, but I thought that it applied only for people both studying and working in Japan.

So if I get it right, if I stop my studies I’m not gonna be a “student” anymore and then I can work in Japan? That’s so weird, I feel like I can’t even take a break and that the university is jailing me.

The guy from the first interview (different recruiter’s agency) didn’t say anything on this matter and seemed happy with the interview, so I’m wondering if he just didn’t know or the second guy is wrong. Anyone know/had a similar experience?
