I have been reading Alex Kerr’s “Dogs and Demons: Tales from the Dark Side of Japan” and I’m amazed at how the author is able to articulate what we foreigners living in Japan have been feeling is wrong about the country. Many of the examples cited date to at least 20 years ago, and some are definitely exaggerated, but the points made are still very relevant to current Japan, considering recent events in the political scene. Overall, a highly recommended read.
Anyone in this subreddit who has also read the book, and if so, what do you think about it? Also, are there similar books (in Japanese or English) that you can recommend?
