Trip to Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Nara

Hi, I have finally managed to put together an itinerary during 10-22 November 2024 (9 days).

We’re a couple that’s visiting Japan for the first time for honeymoon and want it to be relaxing. We’re not museum people but we like seeing grand sceneries and impressions. The idea is to just hit a few big must sees and eat the rest of the time. Please let us know if our trip seem doable and feel free to leave suggestions! Thanks!

Monday (Tokyo):

• arrive at 6 pm in Haneda

• Buy suica cards, buy e sim at airport

• Check in to Via Inn Akasaka

• Get dinner from nearby restaurant/store

Tuesday (Tokyo):

• Tsukiji market – breakfast

• Hie shrine

• Borderless – a bit before 10 am

• See Tokyo Tower

• Lunch and roaming around Ginza

• Ginza Six Rooftop Garden

• Maybe Manten sushi for dinner

Wednesday (Tokyo):

• Yoyogi park to see shrine

• Harajuku

• Hachiko statue

• Shibuya crossing

• Tokyo metropolitan government building

• Shinjuku

• Golden Gai

Thursday (Tokyo):

• Sensoji

• Asakusa

• Kappabashi street (find a good knife)

• Ueno park

• Forward luggage to Kyoto

Friday – Hakone

• Shinjuku station

• Romancecar – Hakone 2-days pass

• Go to Lake and see shrine

• Cruise pirate boat

• Cable car to Owakudani

• Open air museum (or do it the next day if we’re short on time).

• To Ryokan Mount View for bath, kaiseki dinner and sleep

Saturday (Hakone->Kyoto):

• Breakfast

• Shinkanzen to Kyoto w/ekiben

• Sky garden at station

• Check in at Hotel in Gion (West Japan Kyoto Kiyomizu)

• Visit a nearby shrine

Sunday (day trip to Nara):

• Nara

• Osaka evening

Monday (Kyoto):

• rent a kimono at Kyoto Yume

• Philosophers path

• Nishiki market

• Pokemon Centre Kyoto

• Gion

Tuesday (Kyoto):

• Arashiyama

• Bamboo groove

• Monkey park

• Otagi

Wednesday (Kyoto):

• Fushimi Inari early (6-7 am)

• Explore Kyoto

• Forward luggage to Tokyo airport hotel

Thursday (Kyoto->Tokyo):

• Explore Kyoto until evening

• Shinkansen back to Tokyo

• airport hotel Monday Haneda at night (reserve shuttle bus)

Friday:

• leave in the morning w/shuttle bus
