I thought this video was a very good introduction. It made me realize that pitch was something I had naturally noticed when I first started studying Japanese and I just thought of it as the intonation pattern like when you try and speak French with a French accent or Spanish with a Mexican accent, rather than as part of the word:

Are people downloading posts about pitch accent because they’re tired of hearing about it, because they don’t believe it exists, or because they are selling a course and want people to watch their videos instead?
