Suica, Revolut and how to deal with money in Japan

I have a Revolut Visa with the free plan and a limit of €200. I’d like to avoid any unnecessary costs. I know that 7-Eleven ATMs are supposed to be fee-free, but I’ve read that there might be issues with Visa cards.

Additionally, I’d like to load my Welcome Suica directly from Revolut without using cash, especially considering the low limit. Unfortunately, I have an Android phone, so I don’t have the same options as iPhone users.

Can anyone help me out? 🙏

  2. > I know that 7-Eleven ATMs are supposed to be fee-free

7-Eleven ATMs usually charge 110 yen for withdrawals <= 50000 yen, and 220 yen for withdrawals > 50000 yen.

    Other ATMs may charge similar.

The problems are usually with online purchases, not physical usage of a card.

Welcome Suica is a physical card. While you can buy it with a credit card, ongoing charging can only be done with cash.

For any other physical non-tourist card (regular Suica, ICOCA, etc.) you can only buy and charge with cash.
