Seeking Advice: Restoring a 1975 Vintage Bicycle – Need Help Finding Spokes

I have embarked on the self-restoration of my beloved vintage bicycle from 1975, and I’m currently facing a challenge with the rear wheel. After visiting several local bike shops, I’ve found little assistance, and I’m now turning to the community for guidance.

The rear wheel, equipped with an Araya alloy rim (27×1/4 W/O), requires a complete rebuild due to rusted spokes beyond repair.

Specifically, I’m in need of 18x299mm and 18x300mm stainless steel spokes, both with a 2mm diameter, along with brass nipples (though I’m uncertain if I can reuse the current ones which appear to be stainless). They don’t need to be butted or double butted, just simple straight ones.

One shop offered to order the spokes for ¥5000 for a set of 36, claiming I don’t need two different lengths. However, I’m hesitant about this advice and seeking alternative options.

Could anyone recommend reliable sources to purchase spokes and provide insight into reasonable pricing? I’m eager to support local businesses but also want to ensure I’m making informed decisions for this restoration project.

Looking forward to get back to touring after a 10 year hiatus😊

Thank you in advance for any assistance or advice you can offer!
