Private Sales and Returns Question

I recently sold some used astronomy equipment to someone online. I made a series of posts on SNS and someone reached out to me on Twitter (X) about buying the items. The items were in used condition and I adjusted the prices accordingly. I got the bank transfer that he agreed to and sent the items to him. Then he complains that there are signs of use and scratches on the items and would like his money back. The thing is, I literally told him in the second message I sent about the items that there were scratches and signs of use.

I told him it’s the same as buying from a flea market since I am not a retailer or shop. My question is: do I legally have to return his money since it was a private sale of secondhand items? I’m worried he could file some kind of complaint with the bank and get me in trouble.

Edit: Living in Japan for 4 years and have a decent understanding of how used sales work. Most of the time it’s “Caveat Emptor” or buy at your own risk. But I feel like he is trying to bully me into refunding him since I’m not a citizen.
