Hey guys! I’m going to Japan for the first time mid March this year. Any recommendations?

March 14TH
– Leave house at 8 am
– Qantas flight departing at 12am
– 8pm land in Haneda airport
– Get cash from the ATM from wise card.
– Turn e-sim on

– Terminal 3 —> shinkawa station —> Shinjuku station (50 minutes) —> 11 minute walk to hotel.

March 15TH (Shinjuku)

– Morning coffee at all seasons coffee
– Walk to Goyen national park
– Isetan shopping plaza
– Explore streets on Shinjuku
– Golden gai for dinner
– Kabukicho

March 16th. (Shibuya/Harujuku)

– 30 – minutes to Meji- jingu from yamanote line
– Yoyogi park walk.

12 Minute walk to Harujuku

– Arvo coffee at rostery by nozy
– Takeshita street and surrounding streets

15 minute walk to Shibuya

– Shibuya crossing
– Isetan

March 17th (Asakusa)

– Senso-ji temple
– Free day?

March 18th (Ginza and Teamlabs)

– Morning Teamlabs
– Ginza/ Roppongi (museums, Uniqlo)

March 19th (free day?)

– Kamakura beach?

March 20th (HAKONE)

– Shinjuku —> Romancer train to Hakone —> 17 minute walk to hotel.
– Drop off bags and catch taxi to lake ashi?
– Relax in onsen

March 21st (Hakone to Kyoto)

– Tenseien—> Hakone station—> Odarwa —>Kyoto —> taxi to hotel?
– Explore Gion

March 22nd (Higashiyama District)

– Kodaji temple
– Kenninji temple
– Hokanji temple
– Konjogi temple
– Sunset at Kiyomizu-dera

March 23rd

– Fushimi Inari Temple
– Gion afternoon (Yasaka shrine, Hanamikoji Dori)

March 24th

– Arashiyama forrest early morning bike?
– Philosophers path bike

March 25th (Osaka)

– Do anything in the morning
– Hotel —> gion station —>Yodoyabashi station —>Namba station—> 11 minute walk to Hotel.
– Explore Dotonburi

March 26th

– Free day
– Shinabasi arcade

March 27th (Travel day)

-Luggage forward
– walk to namba station —>Shin Osaka station—>Hiroshima station—>Miyajimaguchi station—>Myajima Ferry
– Do nothing

March 28TH (Myajima)

– Mt Misen Hike
– Ropeway down
– Roam town

29th March (Travel Day)

– Myajima—> car ferry to Myajimaguchi—>Hiroshima—>Tokyo station—>Asakusa station

30th March (?)

31st March (Akhibara)

– Free day

1st Flight

– Taxi to Haneda

Firstly,

1) is my split looking alright?
2) what should I be doing on my free days
3) is renting a bike in Kyoto a good idea
4) any other advice?

  1. Are you getting your times from Google Maps or somewhere? Double them for train travel, and add at least 15 minutes for walking times. Train travel is estimated from platform to platform and doesn’t account for moving around in the stations and so forth; walking travel is estimated at 1 minute per 80 meters and doesn’t account for traffic lights, other people, or, for a first-time visitor, the fascinating things you’ll inevitably run across.

    It’s not a dinner area, there are a couple joints that will serve some food, but it’s a minority. You’re not expected to -eat-

  3. You’re going to be sleeping on your free days. What is with these utterly micro planned ultra packed itineraries – honestly / is this for enjoyment – or ticking boxes for social media displays.. you will be overwhelmed by your first couple of days in JP – you’re leaving no time for slow, absorbing enjoyment or getting a feel for any one place…
