Hello. I am currently a third year Japanese studies student. I’ll be graduating next year. My goal is to get a job in Japan and live the rest of my life there. This has been my life goal for a long time. I know my major isn’t ideal but I’m sure there is a way. There are some graduates from my university who actually managed to start their careers in Japan. 2 years ago my department held a zoom meeting where 3 of them shared their experiences and answered questions. They usually work as sales specialists I think. I was planning to get into nikkensei program where they send japanese studies students to study at a Japanese university for 2 semesters but I got rejected and I am really depressed now. I thought I could get it and spending 2 semesters in Japan would allow me to improve my Japanese to beyond N1 level and eventually I could go to Japan as a research student and get a job there but I’m not really confident right now. I consider myself a solid N2 now and I could probably get N1 in december. I can easily find a job in my country after graduation but my skills aren’t really in demand in Japan. What advice would you give to somebody like me?
