Hi all,
I’ve been living in Japan for about 7 months now, but when I came here I never set up any “unaccompanied luggage”, so I’ve been trying to get some pc parts here from Ireland. I’ve had my friends try to ship them to me, but it’s been rejected by customs and sent back. We’re pretty sure it’s because of either the water-cooler or the power supply (since the lowest it was rated for was 115v rather than 100v).
However, the same friends who tried to ship the parts on my behalf are visiting Japan in a few weeks and offered to just bring the parts with them as luggage. I’m trying to figure out if this is ok, since its not personal for *them* to use (would count as a gift?) and if the parts are rejected in the airport, they’d be dumped there and I’d lose them. Specifically, the parts are an i5-8600k, 64gb corsair ram, rtx 3070ti, asus motherboard, shure smb7 and a go XLR, value is about 28万円, so under the 30万円 limit. Is there anything obvious I’m missing? Like some kind of extra customs paperwork or can they just rock up at the airport, declare it, pay and hand it over to me?
Appreciate any help anyone can give!
