Ever wondered how each Pokemon got its Japanese name?

I’ve been playing through some of the Pokemon games in Japanese and found this great resource that explains the origin of each Pokemon’s Japanese name: [https://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/pokemon\_list/generation01.html](https://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/pokemon_list/generation01.html)

For example, Bulbasaur in Japanese is フシギダネ which comes from 不思議だね (“strange, isn’t it?”) and 種 (たね=”seed”) which is pretty fun.

What’s your favorite one?
