Unemployed spouse crypto gains and loss of dependent status.

Another crypto question from me. Am I understanding this source correctly? —> [https://www.mmea.biz/22575/](https://www.mmea.biz/22575/)

Info applied to following case:

Married couple. Unemployed spouse (PR resident) sells crypto at gains above the threshold of 1.3 million yen, which makes them lose their tax status of dependent of spouse, who is a full time company employee.

In addition to income and residence tax (max. at 55%) ,they also have to pay their own health insurance (according to link 143,000 yen per year) and pension (according to link 200,000 yen per year).

Tax is dealt with via 確定申告. As for the insurance premiums, a visit to city hall will do it? I wonder about the paper work…Or can this be somehow done online via the MyNumber portal ?

Also, if profit is gained only ONCE a year at a large sum and due payments are deducted, the unemployed spouse can return to dependent tax status again the following year, right?

Also, the employed spouse’s taxes will increase once the crypto profits exceed 950,000 yen.

Am I missing anything ?
