Is installing 雨戸 shutters worth it?

Hey guys,

I’ve been doing a lot of home improvements to my house lately. Something that I’ve wanted to do for a while is getting those 雨戸 metal shutters that some houses seem to have.

Every typhoon, one side of my house is more exposed to the wind than the rest. The strong wind pushes water inside through the window rails. Till now, I’ve used tape to cover the gaps. It works pretty well, but I’m sick of taping up window gaps. I don’t think that these are meant to stop the wind since they have slots, but I feel like any sort of barrier that cuts down the initial gust of wind would stop water from coming in through the rails.

Do any of you have these? Are they worth the price?
